Federal Education Student Loan Information

Lanier Technical College does not currently participate in any federal student or parent loan programs (e.g. Direct Loans, Stafford). Any student loan for which a student wishes to apply must be a private student loan.

Private loans should be used as a last resort to pay for educational expenses. It is not our policy/recommendation to encourage students to incur additional debt for their college education unless all other sources of aid (grants/scholarships) have been exhausted. Applicants must complete a current year FAFSA to be considered for a loan. Lanier Technical College will only allow a borrower to borrow up to their Cost of Attendance regardless of what the lender may approve the student for. Each aid year (Fall, Spring, Summer) is treated as an individual loan period and must have a new application both for financial aid (FAFSA) and the loan.

Entrance Counseling is required in order for your loan to be approved. Please reach out to financial_aid@laniertech.edu if you have been approved by the lender but haven’t heard anything from the school within 3 days.

LTC utilizes Great Lakes FASTChoice program for loan entrance and exit counseling.
Loan applications that do not have all requirements met to be processed by midpoint of the term for which the funds are being requested will not be approved.

Lanier Technical College does not support or endorse any specific lender or student loan program. Students may search out and apply to the private lender of their choice.
