Advanced Emergency Medical Technician Certificate Program

Program Description
The Advanced Emergency Medical Technician certificate program prepares students to provide advanced emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. This individual possesses the advanced knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation. Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians function as part of a comprehensive EMS response, under medical oversight. Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians perform interventions with the basic and advanced equipment typically found on an ambulance. The Advanced Emergency Medical Technician is a link from the scene to the emergency health care system. Successful completion of the program allows graduates to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians AEMT certification examination and apply for Georgia licensure as an AEMT. This technical certificate of credit replaces the EM01 "Emergency Medical Technician (Intermediate)" technical certificate of credit.

This program is not eligible for the Pell Grant but may be eligible for Institutional and State Financial Aid.

Licensure Information
Upon successful completion of the EMT technical certificate of credit, students may be able to sit for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) EMT certification examination https://www.nremt.org/rwd
After successful completion of the NREMT examination for EMT, students may apply for Georgia state licensure through the State Office of Emergency Medical Services and Trauma (SOEMST). https://dph.georgia.gov/EMS
Admissions Requirements
Must be 18 years of age.
High school diploma or GED is required prior to admission.
(Official transcripts or GED scores must be submitted from all colleges and/or high schools attended for credit.)
