Program Description
The Phlebotomy Technician Fast Track TCC program provides students with the necessary skills needed to become a certified phlebotomy technician. This program is ideal for students seeking a faster route into employment as a Phlebotomy Tech within hospitals, clinics, laboratories, and other medical settings.
Phlebotomist are members of the healthcare team who are vital links between the patient and laboratory services because they serve as specimen collectors and specimen processors of laboratory tests.
The Phlebotomy Technician program prepares students for employment in a variety of laboratory settings such as reference labs, hospital labs, physician office labs, public health labs and other blood collection organizations such as blood donation centers and insurance agencies.
Upon the successful completion of the phlebotomy program, phlebotomy technician graduates are eligible to take a nationally recognized phlebotomy certification exam.

The phlebotomy technician certificate program that prepares graduates to successfully gain entry-level phlebotomy employment.
Campus Availability: Hall
Each PHLT course is taught as a part-of-term. Courses are offered during the fall, spring semesters and summer semesters.
A full semester is 15 weeks except summer semester which is 8 weeks.
Part-of-Term A (7.5 weeks) and Part-of-term B (7.5 weeks)
Program Requirements
Regular admission into the college. Course registration is limited to a maximum number of 15 students who are 18 years of age or older
Clinical Rotation Requirements
- Students must meet the minimum college GPA of 2.0 for clinical rotation participation.
- The clinical rotation must be completed within one semester of PHLT 1030. For instance, if PHLT 1030 is completed in fall semester, PHLT 1055 must be completed by spring. Note: First choice of clinical site placements is granted to currently enrolled PHLT 1030 students.
- Required vaccinations, background checks, drug screen and a current physical must be obtained for placement.
Financial Aid
This program is not eligible for the Pell Grant but may be eligible for Institutional and State Financial Aid.

Frequently Asked Questions
- I didn’t get into my program of choice and want to take phlebotomy while I wait. What should I do? In order to register for courses, you must declare phlebotomy as your program major.
- Why is there a minimum age requirement? Clinical sites have a strict age requirement for student participation.
- Why do you only allow 15 students to register for classes? There are limited lab space and clinical externship sites.
- When can I register for classes? See the enrollment dates for new and returning students on the LTC academic calendar.
- What times are the classes offered? Class offerings vary each semester. Currently there are morning or afternoon offerings. Evening offerings are underway and may be available soon.
- What are the clinical rotation hours? Scheduled hours and days are determined by the clinical sites and vary by location. There are no evening or weekend clinical rotation hours.
- Are background checks performed? Yes, students participating in the clinical rotation must complete and have a satisfactory background check and drug screen (cost $99.95). Disqualifying factors may include but are not limited to: theft, fraud, forgery, aggravated assault, battery, robbery, sex offenses and drug charges.
- Is there additional cost associated with the program?
- Yes, students must purchase:
1) scrubs (black or maroon)
2) closed toe leather shoes
3) ACEMAPP account
4) ADVANTAGE Students account
5) vaccinations and TB screening
6) BLS CPR certification (if required by clinical site)
Admissions Requirements
High school diploma or GED is required prior to admission.
(Official transcripts or GED scores must be submitted from all colleges and/or high schools attended for credit.)
