BUAS 1070 PLC for Energy Management

This course introduces the programmable logic controller (PLC) installation, programming, and networking integration with devices such as HMI and VFD. This course discusses the use of PLC in energy management applications. Emphasis is placed on programming strategies and translating the sequence of operation documents into Ladder Logic programs. Topics include: safety, PLC hardware, I/O, memory, transmission media, wiring sensors, wiring actuators, piping and instrumentation diagrams, Ladder Logic Diagram (LLD), Functional Block Diagram (FBD), Sequential Function Chart (SFC), Structured Text (ST), Instruction List (IL), timers, counters, PID applications, and PLC communications with Modbus. Suggested Software: use of CAD/simulation software tools (such as MS Visio, The Constructor, OpenPLC Editor, PLCLogix 500).
